An LNG filling station is a facility that dispenses liquefied natural gas (LNG) to LNG-powered vehicles. Let’s discuss the operational precautions for CNG dispensers from an LNG refueling station equipment manufacturer:
1. Before each power-up of the fueling dispenser, first check that the external air pressure is sufficient (>0.4 MPa).
2. After the fuel dispenser is powered on, the small circulation valve shall trip, unless specially configured otherwise; the display screen shall show the data for the most recent fueling operation. The screen next to the numeric keypad shall display “Fueling Available.”
3. Large-circulation pre-cooling should be performed as infrequently as possible; its frequency can be adjusted based on defrosting conditions or ambient temperature, with the number of cycles appropriately increased when the ambient temperature is high.
4. The flow meter used in the CNG dispenser is a mass flow meter; the physical unit is not under vacuum and is internally filled with an inert gas, which can lead to frost formation during prolonged operation. CNG station equipment manufacturers do not recommend insulating the flow meter, as this would compromise measurement accuracy.
5. Before each operation, the fuel dispenser must be purged, particularly to remove ice chips and foreign matter from the internal sealing ring area, as these can easily damage the seal and shorten its service life.
6. The sealing gasket of the fuel dispenser is highly susceptible to damage and relatively expensive. During operation, apply balanced force with both hands: first relieve the pressure, then firmly press the handle and gently pull it out.
7. When the internal sealing gasket of the fuel dispenser is damaged, a leak will occur when the fuel nozzle is disconnected; if a leak occurs during fueling, it is usually due to damage to the external sealing ring. The external sealing ring is more prone to damage than the internal sealing gasket, and damage to the internal sealing gasket can easily result in injury.
8. The service life of the sealing rings and gaskets on the fuel dispenser is measured in number of cycles; therefore, minimize the number of times the fuel nozzle is inserted and removed. When not in use, the nozzle can be hung on the hook rather than left inserted in the dispenser’s nozzle holder.
