A Joyful and Healthy Run: Forty Years of Youthful Vigor. On the afternoon of July 6, CIMC Group’s celebratory run marking the 40th anniversary of its production launch kicked off with great enthusiasm at the plaza in front of the Sea World Culture and Arts Center in Shekou, Shenzhen. The CIMC Shenzhen Running Team—comprising CIMC Chairman and CEO Mai Boliang, President Gao Xiang, and other group leaders such as Zeng Han, Wang Yu, Zhang Li, Yang Xiaohu, Hu Pengfei, and Zheng Yuanhua, along with employee representatives from CIMC’s Shenzhen-based subsidiaries—set off along the scenic seaside boardwalk of Shenzhen Bay Park, embracing a healthy and joyful run to mark CIMC’s upcoming 40th anniversary in September. The launch ceremony was hosted by Ma Tianfei, Director of the Group Office.

Starting in Shekou, we’re running toward the world. This event also marks the official launch of a series of celebratory fun runs commemorating the 40th anniversary. Over the next two months, various business units and subsidiaries of CIMC will organize remote running events at their global locations, continuing the tradition of fun runs that was so well-received during CIMC’s 20th and 30th anniversaries—and extending our heartfelt wishes on the occasion of CIMC’s 40th birthday.
Paying Tribute to Yuan Geng: Reflecting on Our Original Aspiration and Mission—A Healthy Fun Run Ushers in a New Journey
On the shores of Shenzhen Bay, at the foot of Weibo Mountain, just a few hundred meters from the site of the historic first blast that marked the beginning of land reclamation in Shekou, stands quietly the statue of Mr. Yuan Geng, a “Pioneer of Reform,” in front of the Sea World Culture and Arts Center.
In early 1980, Yuan Geng personally founded CIMC in the Shekou Industrial Zone, sowing the seeds of CIMC’s mission to serve the nation through industry, and subsequently served as CIMC’s first chairman on behalf of China Merchants Group. He established a modern corporate governance structure for CIMC, laying the institutional foundation for its long-term development, and fostered the emergence and continuous growth of a large number of outstanding talents, including Mai Boliang. This running event takes the statue of Yuan Geng as its starting point, with the aim of reflecting on our original aspirations and mission and living up to the journey ahead.

Prior to the commencement of the event, Mai Boliang led all CIMC employees in attendance in laying flowers at the statue of Yuan Geng and performing three bows, thereby expressing the profound remembrance and highest respect of the CIMC family for Mr. Yuan, while recalling his earnest exhortation to “move forward without looking back” and his pioneering spirit of “daring to be the first in the world.”

At the starting ceremony, Gao Xiang, Group President and Head of the Leading Group for the Group’s 40th Anniversary Celebration, delivered a speech on behalf of Mai Boliang in support of the fun run.
Gao Xiang Announces the Official Launch of the Group’s Series of Fun Runs
Gao Xiang stated that for decades, vigorous, healthy, and uplifting running events have accompanied and witnessed every significant milestone in CIMC’s history. To mark the Group’s 40th anniversary, CIMC has upheld this tradition by organizing a “Happy Run” event, which also serves as the inaugural stop on the celebratory run series. Over the next two months, CIMC employees at home and abroad are encouraged to participate widely, sharing joy, strengthening their bodies, and helping to create an enthusiastic atmosphere for the 40th-anniversary celebrations—so that we can greet CIMC’s 40th birthday with robust health and unwavering spirit.

The 40th-anniversary series of fun runs will run for two months, creating a vibrant celebratory atmosphere.
At 5 p.m., at the sound of the starting gun, Mai Boliang and Gao Xiang led the “Blue Running Group,” clad in blue athletic tops, on a spirited run along the Shenzhen Bay Coastal Promenade.
“Blue Running Group” Kicks Off with Energetic Pace
This fun run is a 6.6-kilometer round-trip course. Participants from CIMC started at the statue of Yuan Geng, ran along the boardwalk of Shenzhen Bay Park—renowned as “the most beautiful coastline in the city”—and then turned around at Shenzhen Bay Yuehai Square before returning to the statue of Yuan Geng.

Beneath the lush green trees, azure seas, and endless blue skies, the CIMC Running Club unleashes boundless energy. Along the running track, the vibrant, spirited faces of CIMC employees create a striking and distinctive spectacle.
After lasting one hour, the fun run concluded successfully, with participating CIMC employees receiving commemorative medals at the finish line. According to reports, the Group’s 40th-anniversary series of fun runs will continue for two months. Employees who were unable to participate in the on-site event can join the “online health run” and will receive physical commemorative medals and souvenirs.

A new employee participating in the Fun Run for the first time said that running through this vibrant hub of reform and opening-up on the eve of the Group’s 40th anniversary filled him with immense pride. “Today’s Fun Run is both healthy and energetic, yet steeped in historical significance, which has profoundly deepened my understanding of and commitment to CIMC, leaving me refreshed in body and spirit.”
A responsible official from the Celebration Task Force stated that the fun run is an important vehicle for carrying forward the Group’s corporate culture and one of the series of events marking the 40th anniversary of the Group’s commissioning, enjoying widespread popularity among cadres and employees. The successful holding of this event has also officially kicked off the 40th-anniversary celebration running program; over the next two months, various business units and subsidiaries will, in light of local epidemic conditions, organize out-of-town running events at appropriate times, thereby jointly fostering a vibrant celebratory atmosphere and further invigorating organizational vitality.
