CIMC Sanctumin’s First Batch of Large-Capacity LNG Onboard Tanks Exported to Thailand

A container ship loaded with 20 LNG (liquefied natural gas) vehicle cylinders has departed from a Shanghai port bound for Thailand. This marks the first-ever overseas export of CIMC Sanctum’s 1,000-liter vehicle cylinders.
In recent years, driven by rapid global economic growth, the environmental challenges posed by an energy mix dominated by coal and oil have grown increasingly severe, making energy conservation and emission reduction a shared global priority. As Southeast Asia’s second-largest economy, Thailand has been progressively promoting the adoption of LNG-powered vehicles since early 2020 in response to the energy crisis and air pollution. Natural gas, as a clean energy source, offers significant advantages over gasoline and diesel, including higher energy density, lower pollutant emissions, and longer driving ranges, and has thus become a major focus of global development for clean automotive fuels.
According to available information, the client is a leading liquefied petroleum gas trader in Thailand and East Asia, primarily engaged in LPG transportation, trading, and equipment manufacturing in China, Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand, and other countries. Since 2020, the group has been expanding its LNG business footprint, launching LNG transportation operations at terminals in Thailand, China, and several other locations, while also venturing into the conversion of CNG trucks to LNG-powered vehicles. In the early stages of the project, the client conducted an in-depth evaluation of multiple Chinese cylinder manufacturers across dimensions such as technology R&D and quality assurance. CIMC Sanctum, a leading cryogenic equipment manufacturer under CIMC Enric, has achieved numerous industry firsts: it built China’s first production line for cryogenic insulated cylinders, manufactured the country’s first LNG vehicle cylinder, and became the first domestic cryogenic equipment manufacturer to obtain E-Mark certification for on-board cylinders. Ultimately, thanks to its strong brand reputation and robust product capabilities, Sanctum earned the client’s trust and recognition, leading the client to select Sanctum as its supplier.
For many years, CIMC Sanctum has steadfastly pursued independent innovation and dedicated itself to developing high-efficiency, safe, reliable, and stable products. Its products are exported to regions including Europe, the Americas, and Africa. This shipment marks the first export of 1,000-liter atmospheric cylinders. Faced with the challenge of whether to pack 20 cylinders into a single container—risking waste—or to use two containers, thereby increasing costs—sales and technical teams collaborated to explore solutions. Ultimately, they adopted a double-layer transport fixture and meticulously verified product dimensions and fixture sizes from all angles during packing, ensuring that all 20 cylinders were successfully loaded and shipped, thus helping the customer reduce transportation costs.
The CIMC Sanctum LNG cryogenic equipment base is currently under construction, with plans to establish an industry-leading, information-driven, intelligent, and digital production line.
